British Architects Crowdfunding To Build Real “Lord Of The Rings” City

Attention Lord of the Rings fans, because a team of self-professed “ambitious architects and structural engineers” is crowdfunding $2.82 billion USD to build a full size replica of the mythical city Minas Tirith.

If funded, work will begin in Northern England in 2016, and be completed by 2023.

“We believe that, in realising Minas Tirith, we can create not only the most remarkable tourist attraction on the planet, but also a wonderfully unique place to live and work,” according to the project’s fundraising page.

To date, £56,761 GBP of £1.85 billion has been raised. The team has given themselves 60 days to raise the cash.

To encourage donations, they’ve set up attractive rewards including title of Lordship or Ladyship of the City for a donation of £100,000 ($155,800 USD), and a follow on Twitter for just £3 (around $4.70 USD). So get donating!
