This frightened, sickly, and disfigured kitten spent years living on the streets of Istanbul, Turkey. Alarmed by the feline’s “ugly” appearance, no one ever approached the animal to help.
Until a kind 7-year-old girl discovered the cat behind garbage cans, shockingly underweight and desperately searching for food — and love.
The unnamed little girl took the kitten home and begged her dad to do anything he could to save this tragic kitten. Eventually, he agreed.
The cat was malnourished and infested with mites but, with proper care, medicine, and surgery to repair the kitten’s facial disfigurements, this lucky cat was on the road to recovery.
Slowly, the cat regained her strength — and formed a firm friendship with the loving little girl who took a chance to save an animal in need.
When the kitten was completely healthy, the little girl was able to formally adopt her new furry friend and take her home to start her new life.
Now they do everything together, and this purring furball showers her human with love and appreciation.
And what did the youngster call her new pet? “Gülümser”, or, “she who always smiles”.
