Think This Is A Photo Of A Grandmother Holding An Infant? Look Again

All is not as it seems with these stunning hyper-realist artworks by Ron Mueck from an exhibition at the Museum de Bellas Artes de Bilbao — these freakishly alive-looking sculptures are little more than oil and resin.

But they’re made with such attention to detail that they seem to breathe.

Every wrinkle, nail, and hair is painstakingly crafted.

Most of the sculptures are made from silicone and painted over with various materials.

You’d be forgiven for asking this guy why he’s snoozing at the museum… but you wouldn’t get an answer.

It’s astonishing how realistic these sculptures are.

And the expressive faces seem to tell a story.

Incredible!
