Tattoo artist and mom Ryshell Castleberry from Florida, US, had had just about enough of hearing how stay-at-home moms “do nothing” and wrote a powerful post to explain just how hard these moms work — without pay.
Ryshell took to Facebook to explain the 24-hour job that is parenting, and it’s exploded with over 1,000,000 reactions and shares.
“My wife does not work,” began Ryshell, before going on to transcript a conversation between a husband and a psychologist. Read on for the full post:
While the husband explains how his wife doesn’t “work” at a job, he tells how she “wakes up early, organizes the lunch for the children, wakes with the baby, breastfeeds and makes snacks…”
Then they talk about what the stay-at-home mom does all day while the kids are at school.
“This is the daily routine of many women all over the world, it starts in the morning and continues until the wee hours of the night. And this is called ‘doesn’t work’?!” asks Ryshell.
Then Ryshell asks the fictional stay-at-home mom for her opinion.
Ryshell dedicates the post to “all the women who give their lives for the welfare of their families”.
“The woman is like salt,” ends the post, “Her presence is not remembered, but its absence makes everything left without flavor.”
“Share with all the beautiful ladies of your life.”
