The Creature Teachers are a ‘mobile animal encounter business’ who want different, interesting creatures to be accessible to the elderly.
Since they started four years ago, they have visited 90 retirement homes — and have no plans of stopping any time soon.
To put it simply, they take the typical zoo experience…
…and make it even better.
Sometimes, the seniors do their own entertaining with their priceless reactions:
“How many legs does it have dear?”
“I’ve never touched a snake before.”
“I’ve never seen snails this big before, are you sure they’re real?”
“They really aren’t sharp spikes at all.”
To hear a senior say they never thought they would one day touch a snake, or to be told they haven’t seen a particular animal anywhere except on TV — these are some of the perks that make the job easy.
But to see the genuine smiles on their faces? They make the job worth it.
