We present a baby Java mouse deer, born weeks earlier at Dutch zoo Natura Artis Magistra.

The Java mouse deer is one of the smallest hoofed mammals in the world.

Fully grown it will be the size of a rabbit and weigh just five pounds. This little baby is about the size of a hamster.

Its legs will never be bigger than the circumference of a pencil.

These deers are extremely shy, but also fiercely intelligent. They are found in the wild in parts of Thailand, Borneo and Sumatra.
