Turkish heiress Mina Basaran and her friends were tragically killed in a plane crash this weekend.
Mina was on a bachelorette weekend getaway in Dubai with seven of her closest friends. Their private plane crashed in Iran on Sunday, March 11th.
The plane had taken off from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates and was on its way to Istanbul when it suddenly plummeted into a mountainous region in heavy rain and burst into flames.
The 28-year-old is the daughter of Turkish businessman, Huseyin Basaran.
The private plane was owned by Mina’s father and carried her, her seven friends, and three female crew members. All eleven people on board reportedly died in the crash.
Just hours before, Mina posted a photo of herself and her friends at a Dubai resort. She also posted photos days ago of her in the plane and on the tarmac.
Mina was due to marry businessman Murat Gezer on April 14th at Istanbul’s Cirali Palace.
She was also in line to run and inherit her father’s business, Basaran Investment Holding.
The company is active in the food, finance, energy, construction, tourism, and travel industries.
Locals who were by the site of the crash said they “found only badly burned bodies and no survivors.” They also said they saw flames coming from the plane’s engine before the crash.
A spokesman for Iran’s emergency management organization, Mojtaba Khaledi, said that DNA tests would be needed to confirm the identity of those on board.
An investigation and rescue mission is in progress, though the cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed.
Our thoughts are with the friends and families of these women.
