This Man Was Mocked Online After Being Seen Staring Wistfully At Jewelry. Now He’s Picking Out Gold Chains For Himself.

A Bangladeshi cleaner working in Saudi Arabia was ridiculed online after being photographed staring into a jeweler’s window, but now it’s going viral for the best reason.

Nazer al-Islam Abdul Karim, 65, who works in Riyadh, was snapped by a stranger who shared the photo online, writing: “This man deserves to only look at rubbish.”

People around the world were shocked by the tweet, and another Twitter account, run by Abdullah Al-Qahtani, set out to find the Bangaldeshi cleaner.

They tracked him down using the reflection of the shop window in the photo, and Karim, who earns $187 a month, said he had no idea the photo was taken.

And now Karim has been sent hundreds of gifts from well-wishers all around the world.

“I was just doing my job as a cleaner in the municipality and found myself in front of the gold shop. I am very happy about the gifts and thankful,” he said.

Abdullah, who found Krim, explained that people have sent Karim bags of rice and honey, return tickets to visit his home country, two mobile phones, jewelry, and cash.

And Karim was also snapped returning to the very same jeweler’s to pick out his own gold jewelry.

Now that’s the way to deal with trolls.
