President-elect Joe Biden has made history in Georgia as the first Democrat to win the presidential race since 1992, NBC News said.

CNN said the win gives Biden 16 more Electoral College votes, solidifying an already large lead over President Donald Trump in both the Electoral College and popular vote counts.

Georgia’s secretary of state earlier announced a manual recount of all ballots because of the closeness of the race.

As of Friday, Biden had a 49.5% to 49.2% lead over Trump out of the ballots tallied so far, a margin of about 14,000 votes.

Biden has secured 306 Electoral College votes, compared to 232 such votes for Trump.

Major media networks called the election for Biden last Saturday.
