For Her Son’s ”Dad Day” At School, This Single Mom Stepped Up In The Most Awesome Way

Whitney Kittrell is a single parent to two gorgeous kids, and recently she went above and beyond for her little boy.

When her young son came home from kindergarten one day with an invitation to a “dads and donuts” day, Whitney’s heart sank.

“When I became a single mom over 3 years ago, I made a promise with myself that I would do anything I could, even if it meant going out of my comfort zone, to give me kids a ‘normal’ life,” she wrote on Facebook.

Whitney asked her son if he wanted to take his grandpa to the dads and donuts day, but his answer surprised her.

“He just smiled and said, ‘No, I want you to go. You’re my mom and dad’,” explains Whitney.

So, with that in mind, Whitney went all out to be the best dad she could be — complete with a drawn-on beard and “dad outfit”.

“I gathered up my best dad outfit, painted on some facial hair, and went to breakfast with my sweet son,” she wrote, “I was so embarrassed but I couldn’t help but smile when he introduced me to his little friends, saying: ‘This is my mom, she’s my dad too so I brought her!'”

Whitney shared her story online and it’s been liked and shared over 100,000 times in a matter of days.

“When I went to leave, he ran after me and hugged me right around my neck and whispered, ‘Mom, I know that you’ll always be there and do anything for me. Thank you. I love you.'”

“I hope he remembers this day, because I’ll never forget it, or his sweet words.”

Whitney, you’re doing amazing.
