When restaurant staff found out that a mom was eating alone on Mother’s Day, they decided to give her a surprise.
Barbara Foy was waiting for her son to call her on Mother’s Day last Sunday. She said she had not heard from him in a long time and was feeling lonely. So she went to Ruby Tuesday’s near Surfside Beach in South Carolina to have lunch by herself when she didn’t receive a call from him.
As she was having her lunch, the restaurant staff realized that Barbara was a mom eating all alone on Mother’s Day.
When the three servers, Christina Smith, Mariah Brown, and Kabria Hasty heard her story, they all pitched in to to make a gift basket for the lonely mom.
The staff at Ruby Tuesday’s brought her a big Mother’s Day bag filled with goodies. Her lunch was also paid for and another customer brought her a rose to cheer her up.
“I really felt like I was queen for a day…mother for a day!” Foy said. “I’ve never been made to feel so special.”
The general manager at Ruby’s Tuesday said that Barbara’s story touched the entire staff and were happy to make her visit memorable. “I think we were all almost in tears by the end of the story,” Nave said. “We wanted to make sure that she knew how special she was on Mother’s Day.”
