Ouch, that’s gotta be the biggest splinter in the whole world.
Belorussian pilot, Ivan Karouski was flying his paratrike, which is a kind of microlight, in the countryside when one of the snaps on his vehicle broke and made it spin out of control.
Initially when he crashed into woodland, he didn’t realize what had happened. But, when he made the rough landing, his shoulder was skewered by a tree branch.
When rescuers found Karouski, they told him they couldn’t take the piece of wood otherwise the 36-year-old would bleed to death. So instead of pulling the branch out, they cut him from the wreckage and brought him to the hospital.
“I’m thinking, ‘I fell so softly, all is okay,’” he said at the hospital. “‘I’ll stand up and go…’ then… something holds me back. I looked and it was a giant log there. I tore my shirt and there was a branch in my arm, thick as a watermelon.”
In a video they shot at the hospital, he shares the gory pictures of his injury. “Everyone already knows anyway, doctors spread the pictures, so there’s nothing to hide. Look!”
He even said that the injury was similar to that of ancient medieval punishments. “It was like in ancient times people were put on a stake… I was impaled.”
The Belorussian pilot, although covered with blood and had a huge branch sticking out of his shoulder, was still being silly about the injury.
