Keanu Reeves To Star Again In ‘Constantine’ Sequel

Keanu Reeves is coming back to play John Constantine.

Warner Bros. has officially announced a long-awaited follow-up to Francis Lawrence’s supernatural thriller, Constantine, from 2005. The original director Lawrence (I Am Legend, The Hunger Games) and the star Keanu, who plays the title character, will return for the sequel.

Akiva Goldsman will pen the script and, together with J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella, serve as producers. Erwin Stoff and Lorenzo DiBonaventura will serve as executive producers.

The remaining actors, production schedule, storyline, and release date have not yet been announced.

This indicates that the next Constantine remake series, which Abrams was also slated to direct, has been canceled by HBO Max.

17 years ago, Constantine made its debut and amassed over $230 million at international box offices. The protagonist of the DC Comics version is demonologist John Constantine, who assists in investigating the strange suicide of a policewoman’s twin sister while attempting to rescue his hell-bound soul by keeping demons in hell and away from Earth (Rachel Weisz).

Rachel Weisz, Tilda Swinton, Shia LaBeouf, Gavin Rossdale, and Pruitt Taylor Vince appeared in the movie, which developed a cult following.
