Motivational speaker Chris Koch, who was born without any limbs, travels the world to prove that a disability should never stop anyone from following their dreams; his journey is truly inspiring.
Along with photographer Anna Tenne, Chris, 36, set off on a six-week adventure around Southeast Asia recently.
“I didn’t balk at it for a second to be honest. I’ve always been interested in history and geography and all that’s out there in the world,” said Chris.
The new friends explored Cambodia, Thailand and Nepal and even hiked toward Everest base camp, all with Chris on his longboard.
Despite facing some struggles, like Chris having to “swallow his pride” and allow help from porters on their journey to base camp, Anna was mostly amazed at the welcome they received from everyone they met.
“No one tried to take advantage of us. [Chris] just radiates positive energy and people flocked to him. I was just happy to be able to capture it all,” she said.
Anna and Chris just hope that their adventures will inspire people of all ages and abilities to get out and chase their dreams: “For most people, traveling is just something that’s out of their comfort zone,” said Anna.
“I learned from Chris that you have to challenge yourself and live life. It’s getting past that mental barrier and not worrying about things. You have to have a positive attitude.”
And Chris added, “I don’t want to be one of those people who reads about what other people are doing on their travels.”
“Anna truly loves what she’s doing and she has created a life that she loves. That’s something we should all strive for.”
