Boy, 4, Takes Newly-Divorced Mom For Valentine’s Meal So She Isn’t Lonely

A 4-year-old boy who didn’t want his mom to feel lonely on Valentine’s Day following her recent divorce decided to take her out for a meal — and try to pay with his jar of saved pennies.

Max Schofield, 4, lives with his mom, Emma, who recently split from his father. She said she was “secretly dreading Valentine’s Day” due to the divorce.

So adorable Max decided he wanted to treat his mom and splash out his penny savings on a card, a gift and a meal.

“After a quick grocery shop my son told me to close my eyes,” she wrote on Facebook, “and he proceeded to choose me a Valentine’s card and a small teddy bear in a gift bag.”

“Then he took me to Pizza Express (I was designated chauffer, of course) and wanted to treat me to a special meal. He also brought his jar of pennies with him.”

“When we went to pay, we were greeted by a waitress in tears who had watched our special dinner date.”

The staff at the restaurant were so touched by Max’s gesture that they gave them the meal for free.

“This extremely kind gesture left me crying with happiness and holding onto my son with pure joy,” added Emma in the touching post, which has since been shared thousands of times.

Max, you can treat us to a Valentine’s pizza anytime. What a sweetheart!
