10 stars who took new names after marriage as Millie Bobby Brown reveals hers

Millie Bobby Brown recently announced that she has changed her name.

Following the much-anticipated release of the first part of the fifth season of Stranger Things on Netflix, Brown has been frequently in the spotlight.

The 21-year-old actress, alongside her fellow cast members, has been busy with media engagements leading up to the series’ premiere, and she was recently interviewed with her close friend Noah Schnapp.

During the interview, Schnapp was questioned about Brown’s full name, which he repeatedly got incorrect. The Enola Holmes star clarified: “It’s Millie Bonnie Bongiovi.”

Brown has always had Bonnie as her middle name, and she adopted the surname Bongiovi after marrying Jake Bongiovi, the son of Jon Bon Jovi, last year.

She’s not the only celebrity to change her name after marriage; there are many others who have done the same…

Demi Moore has been married to two of Hollywood’s most well-known actors: Ashton Kutcher and Bruce Willis. Previously, she was married to singer Freddy Moore, her maiden name being Guynes.

Moore married Freddy when she was still a teenager, and their marriage ended after four years. She retained the surname Moore professionally, as she had already made a name for herself with it.

Jessica Biel married Justin Timberlake in 2012 and is the mother of their two sons. After their wedding, she legally adopted the surname Timberlake.

Sophie Turner, known for her role in Game of Thrones, married Joe Jonas in 2019. She reportedly adopted his surname while maintaining her professional name as Turner.

Unfortunately, the couple separated in 2023 and their divorce was finalized a year later. Turner is rumored to be dating Chris Martin following his breakup with Dakota Johnson.

Jennifer Lopez, popularly known as J.Lo, married Ben Affleck in 2022, nearly two decades after they first called off their engagement.

Post-marriage, Lopez concluded her ‘On the J.Lo’ newsletter with: “With love, Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck.”

This was not her first name change. Previously, after marrying Marc Anthony (Marco Antonio Muñiz), she took his surname. Lopez reverted back to her maiden name following their divorce.

Kelly Clarkson’s legal name changed to Kelly Brianne in 2022, following her divorce from Brandon Blackstock. Blackstock passed away at the age of 48.

In legal documents obtained by People, Clarkson stated that Kelly Brianne “more fully reflects who I am.”

Miley Cyrus adopted ex-husband Liam Hemsworth’s surname during their marriage, becoming Miley Ray Hemsworth.

On Live with Kelly and Ryan, Hemsworth remarked, “She will still be, obviously, known as Miley Cyrus, but she took my name, which is great.”

He added, “I didn’t ask her to take my name, and then she was like, ‘No, of course I’m taking your name.'”

Since their split, the ‘Flowers’ singer has reverted back to Cyrus.

Vanessa Lachey adopted her husband Nick Lachey’s name in both personal and professional settings after their 2012 wedding, a decision she made on her own.

The Love Is Blind host told Access Hollywood, via People: “We talked about it and he was so sweet. He said, ‘Whatever you want, I understand.’ And I said, ‘But would it mean a lot to you if I took it? Because I’m old fashioned and I want to.’

“And he said, ‘What guy wouldn’t want their girl to take their name fully?’ [But] He didn’t push me, no, no, no.”

Priyanka Chopra, known for her role in Baywatch, took on the name Priyanka Chopra Jonas after marrying Nick Jonas in 2018, simply adding his surname to hers.

Chopra explained the decision to Jimmy Fallon, saying: “I don’t take away my identity. He gets added to who I am.”
