Your best friend is the light of your life. Her boyfriend this time around is actually pretty decent. Seeing them happy makes you happy. Sometimes though, you wish things could go back to the pre-boyfriend era.
You had no idea that sharing your bestie meant taking the backseat. You knew things were going to be different, but wow, you really had no clue how different.
We sympathise, and know the things you miss when your best friend gets into a serious relationship. Such as:
#1. Not being the third wheel.
Once upon a time, your bestfriend’s boyfriend was the third wheel, not you. Now, they’re inseparable. Sigh. Keep your head up, unicycle.
#2. Regular, spontaneous nights-out.
And nights-in. In the good old days, your bestie would be down for anything and at any time. Now, you have to schedule days and sometimes weeks ahead of time. Yes, life isn’t fair.
#3. Being bitter together.
It was funny when you would be cynical and bitter about love and relationships. Now, by yourself, it’s just sad. You two probably swore off men altogether, and the second you both did, your ‘friend’ snagged a boyfriend. Oh, cruel universe.
#4. Being able to barge in whenever you wanted to.
You can’t even think about doing that now. Who knows what you might see.
#5. Not having to worry about going to events by yourself.
You really, really, realllyyyy miss not having to worry about plus-ones.
#6. Being first tier.
You used to top the ranking of your best friend’s favorite people. Heck, you used to be her emergency contact. What is this madness?
#7. Being each other’s person.
Until your best friend’s significant other came along, you were the one who was there to hold it all together. What do you do with your life now?
#8. Being single together.
Good times. Sigh.
#9. Being in the same stage in life as they are.
Ultimately, you miss having someone to go through hell with.
#10. Her.
No matter how happy you are for your best friend, there’s always going to be a part of you that misses how things used to be. But don’t fret, if your bestie is a true friend, they’ll be there for you forever.
