100 Netflix films and shows departing in September includes 97% rated series watched for 308 million hours

Netflix users are all too familiar with the cycle: just when you’re engrossed in a new show or film, the service reminds you of its control over content availability.

Every so often, movies and series disappear due to expiring licenses, leaving viewers with incomplete series and a recurring sense of loss.

As another month draws to a close, this inconvenient process is set to happen again in September.

The streaming service is set to remove 100 titles from its library, including some popular favorites among fans.

One notable title departing is the acclaimed comedy-drama The Good Place, which holds a 97 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The series stars Kristen Bell as Eleanor Shellstrop, a saleswoman who finds herself in a utopian afterlife following a fatal car accident.

Upon arrival, she realizes she doesn’t belong in “The Good Place” due to her morally questionable past and scrambles to keep her place.

The show originally aired on NBC from 2016 until 2020, spanning four seasons with a total of 53 episodes.

The Good Place made its way to Netflix in September 2020 and has accumulated an impressive 308 million hours of viewership from January 2023 to June 2025. However, the series will leave the platform on September 26.

Until then, you have a short window to watch it one last time, so make the most of it.

Additional significant titles leaving Netflix in September include the highly praised World War II drama Band of Brothers, Ridley Scott’s crime thriller American Gangster starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe, and the beloved animated film Bee Movie, which has gained a cult following for its unique humor and widespread internet meme presence.

Below is a list of the 100 titles exiting Netflix by the end of August, with information sourced from What’s On Netflix.
