15-Year-Old Missing Girl Located Alive 500 Miles from Home After Six Weeks

A teenage girl from Utah, who had been missing for six weeks, has been found after she entered a police station to identify herself.

Alisa Petrov, a 15-year-old from South Jordan in Utah, was reported missing as a ‘runaway’ on April 21, 2025, following her departure from her school in American Fork.

The South Jordan Police Department stated that Alisa had been ‘trying to meet individuals she encountered online via various social media platforms and chat applications’.

“Alisa is listed as a Runaway Juvenile who is endangered,” the department’s statement emphasized. “Any knowledge of her whereabouts should be reported to Law Enforcement immediately.”

The department posted on Facebook on April 29 to alert the community about Alisa’s disappearance.

The post mentioned that the teenager left her school, bought items at a local gas station, and was seen boarding a UTA train before disembarking at Provo station.

“Alisa reportedly asked several people to assist her in traveling to Las Vegas,” the police added.

In a recent update, the South Jordan Police Department issued a statement on June 2.

It stated: “In the evening hours of June 1, 2025, a young female voluntarily made contact with the Colorado Springs, Colorado Police Department and identified herself as Alisa Petrov.

“Alisa’s identity was confirmed. Alisa is in good health and safe with Colorado officials.”

The statement also mentioned that Alisa’s parents have been informed of her location and are working with authorities to bring her home.

The police department had previously made several arrests during the search for Alisa – men who had contacted the teenager before she went missing, although none were implicated in her disappearance.

In a May 20 update, the department identified a man named Matthew Nicholas Menard from Miami, Florida.

They announced charges against him for enticement of a minor, criminal solicitation, and aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.

Another man, William Taylor Glines from Texas, was also identified and charged with enticement of a minor, criminal solicitation, attempted aggravated exploitation of a minor, aggravated exploitation of a minor, and sexual exploitation of a minor.

The police allege that both men communicated with Alisa Petrov before she left school on April 21.

On May 28, authorities revealed that Menard had ‘self-surrendered’ to the department.

A ‘third adult male’, Samuel Mitchell from Herriman, Utah, was arrested on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor and has been booked into jail.

Alisa’s parents have also spoken out on a website they created to aid in finding their daughter.

The website states: “Thank you everyone for all your help! Thank you for sharing the news, thank you for following, and thank you for the tips! Alisa walked into a police department today on June 1, 2025. She was gone for almost six weeks.”

The site expresses gratitude to the police department, Salt Lake City FBI, family friends, and ‘Jaz from Missing In America Network for the best emotional support in such stressful situations’.

It concludes with a “special thank you to our local community for Praying!”
