At least nine people have died and 58 more have been shot as the spate of violence continues in Chicago over the weekend.
Reports said 58 people have been shot starting 9 pm Friday until Sunday evening. Nine other citizens have died. A 10-year-old boy and 11-year-old boy, along with a 27-year-old man were injured during a drive-by shooting in Auburn Gresham.
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot have attributed the massive surge in violence to lax gun control policies. She said imposing stricter gun control laws would help restore peace and order in the city.
On Friday evening, a man burst through an apartment door “in the 8200 block of South Drexel Avenue” and opened fire, killing a 60-year-old man.
On Sunday morning at 2:55 a.m., a 20-year-old was shot “in the 3200 block of West Cermak Road.” He was “dropped off” at the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead.
