9-1-1 Nashville Pays Tribute to Chad Lowe’s Daughter After Her Death at 13

“9-1-1: Nashville” honored Chad Lowe’s late daughter Fiona during its Season 2 premiere Thursday, just three weeks after the 13-year-old’s death.

The ABC drama displayed a title card reading “In Loving Memory, Fiona Lowe,” accompanied by her name and photograph, during the episode’s closing moments. Lowe, 56, serves as executive producer and directed the premiere, titled “Going Rogue,” which stars Chris O’Donnell and Jessica Capshaw.

Fiona died by suicide on Sept. 29, the family confirmed in a statement released shortly afterward. She was the second-oldest child of Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter; the couple also share daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.

“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance,” the family wrote in their statement.

“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents,” they continued. “In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.”

The Los Angeles community has rallied around the family in the weeks since. Several families from Fiona’s school reached out with offers of help, including meal trains and GoFundMe accounts, according to a source familiar with the situation. The family has politely declined these offers, choosing to share details only within their small, private circle.

Fiona was remembered as a “very well-liked student” who “had a lot of friends” at her school, the source noted.

Among those who publicly mourned Fiona were Lowe’s former “Bones” co-star David Boreanaz and Kendra Andrews, sister of sportscaster Erin Andrews, who had been Fiona’s dance teacher.

The tribute on “9-1-1: Nashville” marked one of the first public acknowledgments of Fiona’s death by the show Lowe helps lead. The series, a spinoff of the “9-1-1” franchise, follows emergency responders in Nashville and premiered its second season with Lowe at the helm of the opening episode.

Lowe, the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, has directed multiple episodes of the series since its launch. His directing credits on the show include the pilot and several Season 1 installments.

The premiere aired Thursday night on ABC, with the Fiona Lowe tribute appearing as the episode concluded.
