Fitness Blogger Mom Proves What You Weigh Doesn’t Show How Healthy You Are

Fitness blogger and mom Kelsey Wells, known as MySweatLife on Instagram, has shared a powerful post telling people to step away from the scales, because weight is no reference point for how healthy you are.

Kelsey put on 50lbs during pregnancy and, post-partum, decided to start a new fitness regime. She opted for Instagram favorite, the Bikini Body Guide (BBG).

And yesterday, after a whopping 84 weeks of the BBG programme, Kelsey shared three pictures of her progress from start to finish, with her weight and body shape amazing her followers.

“I weighed 130 before getting pregnant, so based on nothing besides my own warped perception I decided my goal weight should be 122,” wrote Kelsey, “Well, after a few months of BBG and breastfeeding, I HIT IT and I fit into those size 0 jeans.”

But as Kelsey continued to work out, the numbers on the scale were creeping up — surely a cause for alarm. Not for Kelsey, who points out that muscle weighs more than fat.

“According to my old standards, I would be failing miserably. THANK GOODNESS I finally learned to start measuring progress by things that matter — strength, ability, endurance, health, and HAPPINESS.”

“I have never had more muscle and less body fat than I do now. I have never been healthier than I am now. I have never been more comfortable in my own skin.

Kelsey has clearly lost fat on her body and seriously toned up, and advises people to “take progress photos and videos, record how many press ups you can do”.

“There is only a 5lb difference between my starting and current weight, but my body composition has changed completely.”

So even though she’s only lost 5lbs on the scale since starting BBG, Kelsey feels healthy and strong and looks amazing. That’s why she says it’s time to ditch the scales.

So if you eat well and take good care of your body, maybe it’s time to wave bye-bye to the dreaded scales.
