World’s Most Thoughtful Mom Surprises Her College-Bound Son With A Cardboard Cutout Of Their Dog

An incoming freshie at Texas Tech, Jake Ostrowski was all set to leave for college. But there was one thing the 19-year-old was bummed about not being able to bring along: his golden retriever, Jesse.

“I love my dog — he sleeps with me every night,” the Houston native said. “I’ve been really sad because I’ve got to leave him to go to college.”

Since dogs aren’t allowed on campus, his mom, Sharla, came up with the next best thing: a cardboard cutout of Jesse for Jake to take to his dorm with him.

The teen was “so excited” when he saw his mom’s weird surprise, he tweeted about it. “I’m sure anyone would love a cardboard cutout of their dog,” he said.

The adorable photo of a bewildered Jesse standing beside a cardboard cutout of him (in almost the same post) made Twitter’s entire day.

People vented out in jealous fits of rage.

And made some Twitter users realize what their sorry lives have been missing.

Seems like Jesse (and his cardboard cutout) are loving every minute of it.

“It can be kind of scary going off to college,” Ostrowski said. “But now I’ve got my dog in my dorm with me.”
