Super-cool, colorful crosswalks are appearing all over the city of Madrid, Spain.
And yes, it’s for pedestrians.
Visual Media and Conceptual Artist, Christo Guelov, created these geometric designs to bring life to the urban city.
The colorful design also encourages people to cross the street safely, as it’s easy for motorists and pedestrians to ignore a plain old black-and-white crosswalk.
He said his initial goal was “the intervention of public space.”
Pedestrian injuries, according to Safe Kids Worldwide, are one of the leading causes of death for kids ages 5-19 in the US, so Guelov chose to paint the crosswalks outside of schools.
Thanks to Guelov’s brilliant idea, pedestrians will now find it fun to cross the streets.
