Jenna Levine, 19, is a student at Syracuse University in New York, US. As well as the usual stresses of exams and essays, Jenna had a more unusual problem — her neighbor’s very noisy late-night antics.
Jenna, who lives in the university’s halls of residence, took to Twitter to complain about her, er, passionate fellow residents.
She decided to post a note to the occupants of Room 338, politely asking them to keep their noisy nocturnal frolics to a minimum.
“Hello neighbor, please have sex a little more quietly please,” she wrote, “Some of us are trying to nap and not be reminded of how alone I am… feel free to make all the love you want. Just please, make it nasty at a lower volume. Thank you!”
Shortly after delivering her note, Jenna received a reply — a bar of chocolate and a note from her noisy neighbor on a card (covered in bananas, hilariously).
“Dearest neighbors,” the reply read, “I’m so, so, incredibly sorry about that. I didn’t realize how loud I was being…” started the note, before going on to offer some words of comfort to “lonely” Jenna.
“Hey, don’t worry, you’re not alone forever. The right person will come along when the time comes. I was single for 18 years.”

We just hope those neighbors keep their promise and “make it nasty” a little quieter in future…
