According to police, the rapper JayDaYoungan (real name Javorius Scott) from Louisiana was shot and killed on Wednesday in Bogalusa.

The musician, well known for the song “23 Island”, was killed in a shooting that happened just before 6 o’clock, according to Bogalusa police.

Kenyatta Scott Sr., another individual identified by police as a close relative, suffered injuries but was in stable condition, according to authorities.

Around 5:50 p.m., police arrived to a complaint of a gunshot and discovered one victim had been gravely hurt, while the second victim had been brought to a hospital, according to police.

Later, the police department named JayDaYoungan as one of the shooting victims and said that he passed away as a result of his wounds.

Late on Wednesday, an inquiry for comment from Atlantic Records, which had formerly handled the rapper, went unanswered.

The rapper first achieved fame after signing with Atlantic Records in 2017; since then, his mixtapes have helped him build a loyal fan base. The 24-year-old had collaborated with musicians such as Boosie Badazz, Latto, Moneybagg Yo, and Lil Durk.
