Harry and Meghan have been relegated to the bottom of the Royal Family’s website alongside the disgraced Prince Andrew.
Previously, links to sites dedicated to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were positioned around halfway down the page, below senior royals and above lesser members of the family.
However, following the Queen’s death earlier this month, the website was amended. Harry and Meghan are now listed alongside Princess Alexandra and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester near the bottom.
Prince Michael of Kent and his wife Marie-Christine, neither working royals, have been removed from the website.
It comes at a time when King Charles is generally said to be preparing a “slimmed-down” monarchy during his reign, feeling that the public does not want to pay for an ever-expanding Royal Family.
Meanwhile, the Queen’s relatives, Princess Alexandra, the Duke of Kent, and the Duke of Gloucester, remain on the page as working members.
The Kents have participated in over 200 public appearances, all of which have been paid for by the Prince’s household rather than taxpayers.
The Sussexes were moved down the page for the first time some 15 months ago, having previously placed below the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Harry and Meghan are believed to have returned to California the day after the Queen’s burial without reconciling with King Charles and Prince William.
Harry and William stood shoulder to shoulder in support of their father as he mourned the passing of his mother. At the same time, Meghan and Kate had a joint engagement in Windsor, visiting flowers and memorials in the days leading up to the Queen’s royal burial.
But it’s unclear whether this tenuous truce will endure, especially with Harry’s memoirs expected out later this year.
The Sussexes remained at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor on Monday evening. Still, they were believed to return to California as soon as possible to be with Archie, three, and Lilibet, one, after a two-week absence.
However, the couple is still waiting to see if their two children will be awarded prince and princess titles.
As the monarch’s grandchildren, the Sussex children are entitled to the titles of prince and princess and HRH.
Although William and Kate’s titles have been updated to Prince and Princess of Wales, Archie and Lilibet’s have not.
