Costa Rica Plane Crash Included Billionaire Rainer Schaller

Rainer Schaller, the owner of Gold’s Gym and other companies, is missing, along with his family, when their plane mysteriously disappeared overnight. Officials are almost certain they’re dead.

Schaller, his partner Christiane Schikorsky, their children, and a claimed fitness trainer are among the five passengers who have gone missing since their jet vanished off the coast of Costa Rica while coming from Mexico on Friday.

According to reports, the jet lost contact with a control tower while flying near Barra del Parismina in the Caribbean Sea – and now, the Costa Rican Coast Guard says they’ve discovered multiple pieces of what they think to be the wreckage, including at least two dead.

The identities of the two bodies have not yet been released. Still, according to some accounts, Costa Rican officials are listing Schaller as one of six individuals (pilot included) who are thought dead at this time. The search for the others is still ongoing… but, some personal possessions, such as baggage, have been recovered in the open water.

Schaller is the founder and CEO of the RSG Group, which owns and manages several gym franchises worldwide, including McFit, John Reed, and Gold’s.

While these are well-known brands in the fitness industry, Gold’s is especially well-known in the United States, with prominent clientele like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Clint Eastwood, Muhammad Ali, Hillary Swank, and many more.

Schaller is still only 53 years old.
