Kanye West’s Twitter account was reinstated on Friday morning, less than a day after Tesla CEO Elon Musk finalized his purchase of the business.
West was removed from Twitter earlier this month after making many antisemitic posts, including one about going “death con [sic] 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE.”
The troubles began with West’s interview with Tucker Carlson, in which he claimed that Jared Kushner mediated the Abraham Accords between Israel and numerous Arab governments solely for financial gain.
After being called out, West stated that he couldn’t be antisemitic since “black people are truly Jews also,” a notion held by the Black Hebrew Israelite organization, some of whose sections espouse racist and antisemitic ideas.
While West’s Twitter account is now viewable to the public, it is unknown whether the Power rapper has access to his account or posting rights, since his account has failed to tweet since being restored at the time of publication.
Musk apparently intends to abandon the idea of imposing everlasting Twitter bans on users. Former President Donald Trump’s account should be reactivated on the social networking site, according to the SpaceX founder.
Meanwhile, Musk has already dismissed key Twitter employees, including CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and Vijaya Gadde, who was known for her obsessive left-wing censorship crusade, which included suspending President Trump’s account.
Musk is also said to have had Tesla engineers evaluate Twitter’s software code and to have barred Twitter programmers from making any more changes to the network.
However, after being delisted from Twitter and Instagram, it was reported that West intends to purchase the free speech-friendly social media network Parler.
Adidas, along with a number of other corporations, announced it will cancel its connection with West, calling the rapper’s antisemitic tirades “unacceptable, hateful, and dangerous.”
