Elon Musk Says He Could Create ‘Alternative Phone’ if Apple & Google Boot Twitter From App Store

Twitter CEO Elon Musk has stated that if the Apple App Store and Google Play remove Twitter from their respective platforms, he may develop an “alternative phone.”

“If Apple & Google boot Twitter from their app stores, @elonmusk should produce his own smartphone,” conservative commentator Liz Wheeler tweeted. “Half the country would happily ditch the biased, snooping iPhone & Android. The man builds rockets to Mars, a silly little smartphone should be easy, right?”

“I certainly hope it does not come to that,” Musk responded, “but, yes, if there is no other choice, I will make an alternative phone.”

Phil Schiller, the top Apple executive in charge of the App Store, deactivated his Twitter account when Musk became CEO of Twitter.

Yoel Roth, Twitter’s former head of trust and safety, stated that if criteria are not followed, Twitter risks being removed from Apple and Google’s app stores.

“Failure to adhere to Apple’s and Google’s guidelines would be catastrophic, risking Twitter’s expulsion from their app stores and making it more difficult for billions of potential users to get Twitter’s services,” Roth had said.
