Despite airing for a second time late at night, Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” is drawing more viewers than all but two of CNN’s shows in the key 25-54 age demographic.
According to Nielsen Media Research, Carlson’s 1 a.m. repeat has 154,000 viewers in the key demo, beating out all but two of CNN’s offerings; “The Lead with Jake Tapper” and “Erin Burnett Outfront” both draw 181,000 and 183,000, respectively.
The total audience for Carlson’s 1 a.m. repeat is 751,000, compared to 798,000, 800,000 and 802,000 for the three CNN shows.
Fox News’ “The Five” was named the most-watched show in cable news, averaging 3.432 million viewers in total and 523,000 viewers in the 25-54 age range. It aired before the typical primetime hours at 5 p.m. ET.
Meanwhile, Tucker Carlson’s prime-time show was the highest-rated in the key demographic, averaging 288,000 viewers.
CNN’s Cooper and MSNBC’s Chris Hayes were in second and third place respectively, with 117,000 and 124,000 viewers respectively.
According to Nielsen ratings, Fox News’ “The Greg Gutfeld Show” was the second most-watched late-night news and comedy show in 2021. The show had an average total audience of 2.045 million viewers and was topped only by CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott released a statement praising the show’s success and the network’s “unmatched skill” in delivering innovative programming.
