Dolly Parton Can’t Wait 22 Years to Dig up the Time Capsule Song She Buried Underneath Dollywood

Dolly Parton has been vocal about her impatience to get her hands on the song she wrote and recorded that is now buried in a time capsule beneath her namesake theme park, Dollywood.

The country music icon recently shared her frustrations on The Kelly Clarkson Show, saying, “You have no idea how that has bothered me. I want to go dig that up so bad.” The song, sealed off in a chestnut box in different listening formats with their corresponding devices, including a cassette and CD player, has been buried since 2015 when Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa opened.

It is set to be unearthed in 2045 when the park celebrates its 30th anniversary.

“They weren’t expecting me to be there at all,” Parton said. “I’m just saying, I might be there. Who knows? But the point is, there is a song – I figure it’ll probably disintegrate, probably nobody ever hears it. That’s what bothers me, to think that it’s gonna be a song that nobody’s ever gonna hear if it rots in there before they open it.”

When the capsule is opened, she may have forgotten what the song sounds like, but right now she is hyping it up as an excellent track. She is eager to unearth it and share it with the world.

“It’s a really good song,” she added. “But yes, I have a song that’s buried that nobody’s gonna hear – I don’t know whose damn idea that was.”
