Tesla owners have been left furious after being forced to wait for hours to charge their vehicles. Reports indicated that the queues were so long that some drivers were unable to charge their cars at all.
UK Tesla owners were left frustrated this Christmas as massive queues formed at electric vehicle charging points across the country.
Reports of extensive waits of up to three hours were reported in Hertfordshire, Cumbria, Westmorland and Telford. This occurred as rail strikes forced millions of people onto the roads and an estimated 12 million cars were expected on the roads today.
Unfortunately, some drivers were unable to charge their cars at all due to the length of the queues.
On Christmas Day, a large number of Tesla owners in South Mimms, Hertfordshire, and Cumbria, England were seen queuing up at Waitrose and Tebay Southbound supercharger car parks.
According to a TikTok user, the wait at the Waitrose station was about an hour. Similarly, the Tebay Southbound supercharger was also seeing a high volume of vehicles attempting to charge.
Tesla owners in the UK have been experiencing major delays due to long queues at charging stations. The Tesla Owners Club UK, a Facebook group dedicated to Tesla drivers, voiced their dissatisfaction with the situation.
One member commented, “It’s a joke at Tebay. I’ve been here for over an hour and I’m still 15 people away from the charger. I’m looking at a minimum two-hour wait.”
Another member added, “We need more superchargers. If the country wants to switch to electric cars, it needs to up its standards.”
New Tesla owners have expressed their frustration over the charging process, with many disappointed by the winter charge performance. One person said that they had to wait two hours for their car to charge, while another noted that Tesla chargers were too expensive.
Meanwhile, the Supercharger at Telford Services was also affected, with four Teslas parked and waiting to charge. A third person noted that Podpoint chargers offered the best value for money, at an average 40p.
‘Everybody’s charging is slow due to the amount of stalls used. People knocking on windows asking how long they will be charging for.
‘Others knocking on windows asking how long they have been waiting.’
A driver in Westmorland, north-west England, added: ‘Two-hour 30-minute wait for a charge. Worst journey as (a) Tesla driver. Q now 40 deep!’
