A Texas couple experienced a shocking discovery while enjoying a typical morning walk along Casa Martin Drive in Katy, Texas. Daniela Fedele and her husband were initially oblivious to the significance of a seemingly harmless towel discarded on the ground. However, their alarm grew when their three-year-old daughter rode her bike towards it, revealing unexpected movement beneath.
Daniela recounted the startling moment to KHOU, saying, “I noticed two little feet moving and then my husband was right behind me with the dogs and I yelled to my husband and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, a baby, a baby’. And then my husband [said] like, ‘Call 911, call 911’, and that’s what we did.”
The urgency of the situation escalated with the aid of CCTV footage, which captured the precise moment the newborn baby was left abandoned on the street. The video reveals a man scanning his surroundings before placing the baby on the ground and hastily fleeing the scene.
Local authorities, alerted by the couple’s 911 call around 9:00 am, have launched an investigation to locate the man responsible for abandoning the infant. In the meantime, the Fedeles’ quick thinking ensured the baby’s safety. Daniela’s husband shielded the newborn from the sun by finding shade under a nearby tree, actions that were captured on CCTV and later commended by the police.
The baby girl was subsequently taken to the hospital and, according to KHOU, is in good condition. Sgt. Juan Garcia from the Child Abuse Unit emphasized the crucial timing of the discovery, noting, “The two witnesses that were thankfully walking on the trail with their daughter and their dogs were a blessing. The baby was a newborn… still had, you know, fresh placenta on the baby, so it was freshly born this morning.”
This harrowing incident highlights the importance of community awareness and the profound impact of timely intervention in emergency situations.
