In the unfolding investigation surrounding the death of beloved actor Matthew Perry, a high-profile female celebrity has recently retained the services of a criminal defense attorney. Perry, a star best known for his role on “Friends,” passed away tragically in October 2023. Following his death, his family released a profound statement expressing their sorrow, stating: “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love.”
Six weeks after his passing, the cause of Perry’s death was determined to be the effects of ketamine, with additional contributing factors including drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine—used in the treatment of opioid use disorder. Notably, Perry had been undergoing ketamine infusion therapy for anxiety and depression, but his last treatment was over a week prior to his death, which led medical experts to consider the possibility of drug misuse.
Dr. Ed Boyer, a professor of emergency medicine at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, told CNN in December 2023, “The elevated concentrations of ketamine suggest high levels of use. Considering his last ketamine therapy was at least a week before, misuse – even recreational use – cannot be ruled out.”
It wasn’t until May of the following year that a criminal investigation into Perry’s untimely death was initiated. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), along with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the United States Postal Inspection Service, made a statement saying, “Based on the medical examiner’s findings, the LAPD has continued its investigation into the circumstances of Mr Perry’s death.”
During this investigation, a female celebrity was brought in for questioning and had her electronic devices confiscated. Although her identity has not been disclosed, she has been cooperative with law enforcement thus far. According to RadarOnline.com, before deciding to engage legal representation from prominent Hollywood attorneys, she had been voluntarily participating in the investigation.
Sources close to the situation informed In Touch that the woman is firmly denying any involvement in Perry’s death, stating, “She is adamant she had nothing to do with Matthew’s death,” and is reportedly being very guarded about the issue.
