An investigation has been initiated following the emergence of a video purportedly showing a female prison guard engaged in sexual activities with an inmate. This shocking incident reportedly occurred at HMP Wandsworth and features a woman dressed in her official uniform.
The video starts with the guard performing a sexual act on an unidentified prisoner. It escalates as she proceeds to have sexual relations with him, while a fellow inmate records the entire act on his mobile phone. The surroundings of the cell, visible in the footage, include a television and numerous piles of clothes strewn across a bunk bed.
The inmate filming the scene remarks, “Guys we’ve made history, this is what I’m telling you,” even as he smokes a cigarette. The guard’s radio can be heard in the background, crackling with the voices of oblivious colleagues.
During the video, there’s an attempt by someone to enter the cell, but they are briefly halted as the man behind the camera asks for a moment. Despite this interruption, the filming continues with the prisoner urging his accomplice to keep going, proudly stating, “This is how we live in Wandsworth.”
The footage quickly spread across social media platforms, prompting authorities to take action. A spokesperson for the Prison Service commented on the matter, stating, “Staff corruption is not tolerated and the former prison officer allegedly featured in this video has been reported to the police. It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate.”
The Metropolitan Police also confirmed their involvement, with a spokesperson revealing to UNILAD, “A police investigation was launched on 28 June after officers were made aware of a video allegedly filmed inside HMP Wandsworth.” They added, “A woman was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office on 28 June. She has been taken into police custody. Enquiries continue. We remain in close contact with the Ministry of Justice.”
The incident has raised significant concerns about security within the prison system. Ian Acheson, a former prison governor, voiced his worries to the MailOnline, stating, “If this footage is authentic and I’ve been assured it is, the problems confronting a likely new Labour administration go far beyond overcrowding.” He harshly critiqued the incident, describing it as “a stunning indictment of the utter chaos inside this prison,” and warned that it likely wasn’t an isolated event.
“The state is no longer in charge here,” Acheson added, highlighting the severe implications for both security and corruption, exacerbated by the widespread infiltration of illicit mobile phones that allows such footage to circulate among a vast number of inmates.
