People shocked after seeing prices God of War’s Kratos actor Christopher Judge charges fans at convention

Christopher Judge, the renowned voice actor recognized for his role as Kratis in the “God of War” video game series, has surprised fans with his high charging rates at a recent convention. Known for his award-winning performance in “God of War Ragnarök,” for which he won the British Academy Video Games Award for Best Performer in a Leading Role, Judge’s pricing at Collect-A-Con in Dallas, Texas, has sparked discussions among fans.

Aside from his work in video games, Judge is also famous for his portrayal of Teal’c in the military science fiction series “Stargate SG-1.” At the age of 59, his recent appearance at the convention has led to some controversy regarding the costs he imposed for autographs and selfies.

A fan expressed their astonishment on Reddit, noting, “Just wanted hop on here to share Christopher Judge’s prices for autographs, selfie, etc. I just came back from collect-a-con and was just a bit blindsided by the prices (it was also the first time I met a celeb at a con).

“So I wanted to share to make sure everyone knows what they’re in for as far as prices go! He was super nice and chill (a bit late but that was fine) and I think it was worth the money! I had him sign the cover for my gowr [God of War Ragnarök] game, on the inside. If it’s not clear let me know! Also, I’m not sure if these are his set prices for every con or fan meeting, but these were his prices this time around.”

The price list included $70 for an autograph, $40 for a selfie, and a combined deal of $100 for both. Signing a Funko Pop! cost $90, likely due to the difficulty of signing the textured surface, with a combo including the signed figurine and a selfie priced at $120.

For fans desiring a personalized touch, Judge charged $30 for reciting one of the game’s iconic quotes and $250 for a 30-second voice recording. The most exclusive offer was a $500 call or FaceTime for someone the purchaser chose.

The total for all these services could amount to $1,000, leading to mixed reactions among fans. One commented, “Hate to say it, but that just isn’t worth it imo [in my opinion].” Another added, “I get trying to stop hoarders who will show up with 15 items to resell. But punishing fans by charging 75 dollars for some ink on a piece of paper or toy is insane.”

Some attendees were critical of the $40 charge for a selfie, noting that it was not even professionally taken. Speculations arose about whether celebrities are paid to attend these conventions.

Despite the backlash, some fans supported Judge’s pricing. One fan wrote, “He knows his worth. Dude is a f**king legend, now. He more than earned it.” Another defended the actor’s right to charge for his time, stating, “What are you all mad at him for? I charge for my time. This is work for him. He should charge for his time too.”
