Snoop Dogg has become a standout presence at this year’s Olympics, capturing attention with his lively behavior. The rapper is reportedly earning a substantial amount for his participation.
It’s hard to imagine how the Olympics were ever held without Snoop Dogg. The iconic rapper has infused each event with an extraordinary level of energy and excitement.
Already, we’ve seen several entertaining memes featuring the ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ artist, thanks to his animated reactions.
From appearing in full equestrian attire at the Dressage team grand prix special to cheering on athletes from the sidelines, the 52-year-old has been a fan favorite.
Snoop even had the honor of carrying the Olympic torch. One might think this would be more fitting if the Olympics were in the Netherlands, but that’s beside the point.
Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., is working as a special correspondent for NBC during the Paris 2024 Olympics.
However, Snoop is not offering his services for free.
Fans have been curious about Snoop’s earnings for his appearances and commentary.
According to one claim, it is a staggering amount.
Henry L McNamara, a venture capitalist based in New York, shared on social media what he allegedly overheard about Snoop’s compensation.
“Sat next to an NBC exec at dinner,” McNamara wrote on Twitter on August 4. “He said Snoop gets paid $500,000 a day plus expenses to be here promoting [the] Olympics.
“From ‘Gin and Juice’ to a few million to be a celebrity at the Olympics – what a world.”
If this figure is accurate, Snoop could potentially earn a total of $8 million for the entire 16-day duration of the Paris 2024 Olympics. Not bad for a few weeks’ work.
Social media users have been supportive, expressing that the rapper’s presence is delightful and worth every penny.
“Worth it! Snoop Dogg is rocking the @Olympics!” one user wrote on Twitter.
Another commented: “He is worth 2X that amount. Snoop is America.”
A third user praised: “Money well spent because he is awesome! Hopefully next year they pay @FlavorFlav because he has made these Olympics for me.”
Another remarked: “Totally worth it – he’s working hard & bringing so much attention to the broadcast/socials.”
