Yung Gravy has addressed the situation after Hawk Tuah Girl alleged that she turned down his invitation to go on a date.
Hawk Tuah Girl, whose actual name is Haliey Welch, gained widespread attention earlier this year following a viral video where she shared some explicit bedroom advice.
Since then, Haliey has enjoyed the perks of her newfound fame, such as being invited on stage at a Zach Bryan concert and throwing the first pitch at a New York Mets baseball game.
She now has an impressive 2.3 million followers on Instagram, one of whom appears to be rapper Yung Gravy.
Haliey claimed that Yung Gravy reached out to her through direct messages, asking her out—an offer she politely declined.
In a recent interview with TMZ, Haliey mentioned: “He wants to take me out on a date. I was like, ‘Nah I don’t know about that.'”
Yung Gravy has since shared a screenshot of their Instagram conversation, which dates back to July 31.
One of his messages, which he shared on Twitter, stated: “Damn I just looked at ur page and u realy out here doing this s**t lol congrats b [sic].”
In a subsequent direct message, he continued: “When i went to find ur page i was fr just tryna salute u for being a certified top champ.”
“This aint just me trying to finesse cause idk ur mans situation,” the rapper added. “But i wanted to have u at a show next month to hear my country s**t.”
Alongside the screenshot of the messages posted on Twitter, Yung Gravy suggested that you ‘can’t be nice anymore,’ implying that he wasn’t asking Haliey on a date, but merely inviting her to attend his concert.
In response to the screenshots, Haliey posted her own screenshot of their Instagram interaction, noting that the rapper, whose real name is Matthew Raymond Hauri, had messaged her first.
“Close but no gravy,” she tweeted.
The story continues to unfold…
Yung Gravy’s romantic life has frequently been a topic of interest, particularly when he briefly dated Addison Rae’s mother, Sheri Easterling, who is 17 years older than him.
The rapper brought Sheri as his date to the VMAs in 2022, just a month after he began conversing with her through direct messages.
However, their relationship was short-lived, as the couple parted ways a few months later.
Representatives for both Haliey and Yung Gravy have been reached out to for comments.
