A 23-year-old woman tragically captured on video the moment her boyfriend fatally shot her.
Ielly Gabriele Alves lost her life in Brazil on November 4, 2023, due to a gunshot wound.
During the subsequent police investigation, her boyfriend, Diego Fonseca Borges, alleged that Ielly was shot by a group of armed men.
Borges claimed that he was driving with Ielly when the men attempted to mug them and she was shot.
He then took her to the hospital, seemingly trying to save her from the alleged attackers.
Speaking to Globo News at the time, local police chief Ulisses Cortez remarked, “He even hugged [Ielly’s] body and promised her mother that he would find the men responsible for her killing and make him pay.”
However, inconsistencies in Borges’ account led police to investigate further.
According to Globo, Borges could not pinpoint where the shooting occurred or provide a coherent sequence of events. Additionally, forensic experts found that the bullet entry wound on Ielly’s body did not align with Borges’ story.
The investigation took a critical turn when Ielly’s aunt handed over her niece’s phone to the police, revealing a video filmed by Ielly.

The footage, shot at a house in the Goiás region about 100 miles from Brasilia, shows Borges looking through a window while conversing with Ielly, who was holding the camera.
A few minutes later, Borges aimed a gun at Ielly and held it towards her for a moment while she laughed.
He then pulled the trigger, hitting Ielly and causing the phone to drop.
Borges has been charged with qualified homicide, although he claimed he believed the gun was unloaded.
Police unearthed that the couple had a ‘troubled relationship,’ and Ielly had confided in friends about alleged abuse from Borges.
“They advised her to end it,” one officer informed Globo.
Ielly’s mother, Olesiane Alves da Silva, revealed that Ielly did not want to see Borges anymore, but he insisted on talking to her on the day of the incident.
“She even heated up a plate of food for him here at home [before they left]. She said: mom, I’m going over there and I’ll be right back,” her mother shared.
