An American right-wing commentator has found herself the subject of ridicule from both men and women after making a controversial statement about the most unattractive hobby men can have.
Nothing indicates being out of touch more than having both genders dismiss your opinion on social media.
While Twitter is often filled with absurd and outlandish opinions on various topics, right-wing commentator Liz Wheeler may reconsider offering dating advice on the platform in the future.
In a highly debated post, she showcased a picture illustrating what are purportedly ‘the least attractive hobbies for men according to women’.
It’s important to highlight that the post has been community noted since it was shared on August 20.
Many people were displeased with the dubious source of the information presented.
The graph indicated that playing video games scored 90 percent in unattractiveness out of a possible 100. This was followed by collecting figurines at 85 percent, performing magic tricks at 80 percent, and online trolling at 75 percent.
She captioned the image: “This is 100% true. Men playing video games is peak unattractive. Beyond red flag. Like dealbreaker zone. It’s weird that so many dudes don’t get this.”
However, the community note attached to the post stated: “There is no source provided for the reported finding, and the percentages are rounded evenly to the nearest multiple of 5, which is implausible.
“The origin of this image is from a TikToker making a joke post about them being birdwatchers.”
The TikTok user who initially posted the graph has been identified as @joez4842.
However, since the graph is not backed by a credible source, it is likely meant to provoke reactions.
Liz has since clarified that she was aware the graph was a joke and posted it ‘because she thought it was humorous’.
Her posting seemed to achieve the desired effect as people quickly criticized Wheeler for her wholehearted agreement.
“Guys playing video games is their way of escaping the BS they deal with all day. I’d go on to say it is the equivalent of women binge-watching Netflix or endlessly scrolling their insta feeds. As long as the guy has a steady job and stays physically fit it shouldn’t matter,” commented one upset individual.
Women also joined the conversation, with one remarking: “Men have a lot of crap on their plates, and if a guy takes care of business in every other arena, why the hell shouldn’t he play video games?”
“Nahh the same girls who hate their man gaming also hate him going out with the boys or doing any hobby or activity that she isn’t also into. This isn’t about him being anti-social, this is about you wanting his entire world to revolve around you,” added another.
