The ‘king of horror’ has spoken.
Stephen King, celebrated as one of the greatest authors of all time, has recommended a must-watch for adrenaline junkies on Netflix. Fans are all echoing the same sentiment.
At 76 years old, King has penned 65 novels, many of which have been turned into horror films. With such a resume, his opinions carry weight.
King is the mastermind behind the chilling tale It (2017), which is based on his 1986 novel of the same name.
The plot revolves around seven children haunted by a malevolent entity that often takes the form of a clown to prey on them.
It achieved massive success, grossing over $700 million globally, which led to the release of It Chapter Two four years later. The sequel also performed well, earning over $473 million at the box office.
Recently, King took to Twitter to recommend a film, one in which he had no involvement. Given his expertise, it’s bound to be a solid choice.
He tweeted, “Want a tight little thriller that will remind you of Ruth Rendell and Patricia Highsmith? Try I CAME BY (Netflix). It does the job.”
The movie centers on a young rebel involved in an underground movement targeting the wealthy by graffitiing their homes.
However, the plot thickens when he discovers a dark secret in the home of a respected judge.
One user commented on King’s tweet, saying, “Such a great film and Hugh Bonneville is a revelation in it.
“He has an ability to turn his eyes cold even when he is smiling which is chilling. As well as being fast-paced and entertaining it asks important questions about buried trauma and virtue signalling.”
Another user humorously noted, “Never would have thought I would get a movie recommendation from Stephen King, but here we are. Thanks Twitter!”
Fans of the film also took to social media to express how ‘scary’ they found the thriller.
One person praised the movie, saying, “The scene where Hector Blake closes the ‘panic room’ door to say those things to the last cop was one of the scariest I’ve seen in a while.”
Another viewer wrote, “‘I came by’ with Hugh Bonneville on Netflix. Just finished it. Scary good.”
A third user shared their experience, saying, “If anyone out there. On Twitter Land. Wants to know why I can’t sleep. I’m watching one of the most Scary Harrowing programmes ever. It’s called I came by. On netflix.
“I keep having to pause it. And wait till I can carry on. That’s why I can’t sleep #rtitbot”
Will you be watching it?
