Netflix users have lauded a film for being so poignant that it caused them to ‘cry buckets’ upon viewing.
On LADBible’s Facebook page Netflix Bangers, individuals shared their experiences and explained why this particular movie left them in tears.
There are numerous films known for their emotional impact.
Whether it’s “Titanic,” with the controversial debate about whether there was room for two people on the wooden plank, or Pixar’s “Up,” which delivers an emotional blow by depicting a couple’s life together before one succumbs to cancer, leaving the other partner alone.
Perhaps it’s the heart-wrenching scene in “Toy Story 3,” where viewers watched their beloved characters face what seemed like imminent death.
Even though they were ultimately rescued, that moment was incredibly dark.
However, this particular movie offers a more slow-building kind of heartbreak.
So, what is the film that has elicited such strong emotions?
The film in question is “Hachi: A Dog’s Tale,” a remake of the 1987 Japanese movie “Hachikō Monogatari,” which recounts the story of Hachikō the dog.
Hachikō, an Akita, lived from 1923 to 1935 and became renowned in Japan for his unwavering loyalty to his owner, Hidesaburō Ueno, a professor in the agriculture department of Tokyo Imperial University.
Each day, Hachikō would wait at Shibuya Station in Tokyo for his owner to return from his commute.
But one day, his owner did not come back because Hidesaburō had suffered a fatal stroke at work.
Instead of giving up, Hachikō continued to wait for Hidesaburō for the next ten years, with people providing food for the loyal dog.
The story gained attention, and Hachikō became a symbol of Japanese values and loyalty, leading to the creation of the 1987 film.
“Hachi: A Dog’s Tale” relocates the story to New York, introducing Hachikō’s narrative to an American audience.
Richard Gere portrays Professor Parker Wilson, who acquires an Akita dog.
The film left viewers deeply affected, who then shared their reactions on Facebook.
One person wrote: “The loyalty that a dog has to its owner compares to no other, I love this film. It’s sad and beautiful at the same time.”
Another commented: “What an excellent movie made me cry so much.”
One individual termed it a ‘masterpiece,’ saying: “Seriously. I don’t remember any other movie that makes you cry for so long. An undisputed emotional masterpiece.”
