Dax Shepard responds to speculation about him and wife Kristen Bell being ‘swingers’

Dax Shepard has addressed the circulating rumors about his and Kristen Bell’s relationship, particularly the speculation that they might be swingers.

Recently, the Buddy Games star has faced criticism for discussing his children’s future sex lives, prompting him to clarify many misconceptions about his own.

For those unacquainted, an upside-down pineapple sign on a cruise ship door signifies someone open to swinging. Swingers are individuals who engage in group sex or exchange sexual partners.

For some reason, rumors emerged that Shepard and Bell were ‘Hollywood swingers’ and hosted swing parties.

Shepard acknowledges that this narrative seemed ‘exciting’ at the time, but he has now set the record straight.

Yesterday (September 9), during the premiere of season five of Drew Barrymore’s show, the Armchair Expert podcast host spoke candidly with Barrymore about the rumors. Barrymore praised Shepard and Bell’s relationship, calling them ‘amazing couple goals’.

“As someone who looks at your willingness to share your life and love, it seems very real, but I’m sure there’s a whole life you have that no one is privy too of course,” Barrymore said.

Shepard addressed the rumors, revealing that they had even sparked jestful texts from friends asking why they weren’t invited to any swinger parties.

He clarified that their friends were joking because they knew the couple well and were aware they weren’t hosting such events.

Shepard and Bell found the rumors ‘very funny’.

“I just thought that was great to receive a text from Kimmel saying, ‘My feelings are quite hurt that Molly [McNearney, his wife] and I weren’t invited to this swingers party.'”

Though acknowledging the attractiveness of many couples, Shepard confirmed that neither he nor Bell have ‘crossed that divide with anyone’.

He added: “You know who we are most in love with? We’re in love with Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen. Oh my God, they are so dreamy as a couple. You just kind of want to be in their marriage.”

Ultimately, Shepard concluded: “It’s not so much that Kristen even wants to bring me along or I want to bring her along – you just want to be in their marriage.”

In conclusion, this serves as a reminder to be cautious about believing everything reported in the media.
