An expert in lip reading has disclosed the exchange between Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek during their notably awkward meeting.
Nicole Kidman, along with other celebrities including Katy Perry, attended Balenciaga’s show at Paris Fashion Week on September 30.
Accompanying Kidman and Perry in the front row were Anna Wintour, Kyle MacLachlan, and Bill Skarsgård, along with Salma Hayek and her spouse François-Henri Pinault.
Pinault, being the CEO of Kering, oversees luxury fashion labels such as Balenciaga, Gucci, and Saint Laurent.
Hayek took the opportunity to promote her husband’s brands by arranging for A-listers like Kidman and Perry to be photographed at the event.
However, a particularly tense moment between Kidman and Hayek caught public attention when the Big Little Lies actress appeared to push Hayek away.
In the video, Hayek—widely recognized for her roles in films like Frida, Desperado, and House of Gucci—attempted to direct Kidman towards the cameras.
Lip reading specialist Jeremy Freeman has now provided an analysis of their conversation.
In a discussion with UNILAD, Freeman revealed that Hayek said, ‘Let’s turn there. OK here,’ as she attempted to adjust Kidman’s position.
“Hey, I’m fine, I’m good,” Kidman replied before proceeding to kiss Perry.
“There, it’s enough, it’s OK,” she added afterwards.
Hayek seemed slightly unsettled after being brushed off by Kidman.
As Kidman walked away, she appeared to say ‘You don’t need it’ and Hayek responded with ‘I do,’ though the subject of their conversation is unknown.
The celebrities have not publicly commented on the incident, but UNILAD has sought reactions from both stars.
Despite the awkward situation, Hayek posted a photo with Kidman on her Instagram account.
On October 1, the Grown Ups actress shared, “Finally last night the grand finale of my Paris Fashion Week 2025.”
The post featured several images of Hayek, a video of Perry showcasing a hidden pocket in her dress, a brief clip of Hayek greeting Lindsay Lohan from across the runway, and a photo of her with Kidman, who appeared to be looking down.
A viewer noted, “Nicole was mean to you, but you still posted a picture with her. You have kindness in your heart!”
Another user questioned: “Nicole was so rude to you, why take pictures with her?”
