Eminem has been known for targeting numerous celebrities with his lyrics since his emergence in the rap industry, and one consistent target over the past two decades has been Diddy, also known as Sean Combs. Despite the fierce and often humorous nature of his lyrics, Eminem has not held back when it comes to his remarks about Diddy.
Even those who have only casually listened to Eminem’s music are aware of his fearless approach to mocking public figures. Whether with sharp criticism or playful barbs, the hip hop icon has built a reputation for being candid in his lyrical attacks on other celebrities.
Among those who have felt the sting of Eminem’s words is Diddy, who is currently facing serious charges including sex trafficking and racketeering, all of which he has denied. Eminem, however, has been taking lyrical shots at Diddy long before these allegations surfaced.
In one instance, Eminem rapped, “Original Bad Boy on the case, cover your face. Came in the place blowed, and sprayed Puffy with Mase,” which was a cheeky jab at both Diddy and Mase.
Another line went, “You little groupie b****, get off me, go f**k Puffy,” highlighting Eminem’s willingness to confront industry heavyweights like Diddy.
He also mentioned, “Cause if I ever stuck it to any singer in showbiz. It’d be Jennifer Lopez and Puffy, you know this. I’m sorry, Puff, but I don’t give a f**k,” referencing Diddy’s past relationship with Jennifer Lopez and expressing his own interest in the singer.
While some of his earlier lines might have been seen as playful jabs, by the late 2010s, Eminem’s lyrics about Diddy took on a more serious tone. He provocatively suggested, “Kells, the day you put out a hit is the day Diddy admits that he put the hit out that got Pac killed.” Although he later added, “I’m just playing, Diddy, you know I love you,” leaving listeners to speculate about his true beliefs regarding the notorious East Coast-West Coast rivalry.
The rapper also referenced Diddy’s reality TV show, Making The Band, with the line, “They call me Diddy because I make bands, and I call getting cheese a cakewalk.” This was a nod to a particular episode where Diddy sent contestants on a long journey to fetch him a slice of cheesecake, a task criticized by many as demeaning.
Eminem’s latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), appears to touch on the ongoing controversies surrounding Diddy.
In the song, he raps, “Notorious B.I.G.’s death was the domino effect of 2Pac’s murder, like facial tissue, whose clock should I clean next? Puff’s?”
He continued with, “Til he’s in police handcuffs, guilty, will he step up?”
The song also features the line, “A R-A-P-E-R. Got so many S-As, S-As. Wait, he didn’t just spell RAPPER and leave out a P, did he?…,” which seems to ominously align with Diddy’s current legal predicaments.
Eminem further commented, “Next idiot ask me is getting his ass beat worse than Diddy did — But on the real, though, she probably ran out the room with his f**king dildo,” alluding to the widely discussed video of Cassie and Diddy, as well as the sexual assault claims against Diddy.
