50 Cent’s son recently reached out on Instagram, hoping for a chance to spend time with his father, but the rapper showed no interest.
It seems that 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, is similar to many absentee fathers. Despite being offered $6,700 to spend a day with his eldest son, he declined the opportunity.
This comes as no surprise, considering the 49-year-old ‘In da Club’ rapper’s wealth, which Celebrity Net Worth reports to be around $60 million.
In 2022, Marquise Jackson, the son he shares with Shaniqua Tompkins, made a heartfelt plea on Instagram. He offered his father $6,700 for just 24 hours of his time, showcasing the money in $100 bills arranged to spell ‘Entitled’. Marquise appeared somber in the accompanying image.
In his 2017 debut single ‘Different’, Marquise, now 28, addressed the strained relationship with his father, rapping: “Lost my pops. He’s still alive.”
The Instagram post followed a live session where Marquise criticized his father for insufficient child support payments, shedding light on the significance of the $6,700 figure.
Marquise explained: “$6,700 a month in […] New York City, you do the math. You’re talking about a Forbes lister – you’re talking about someone that has problems with everybody – you can’t just live in any neighborhood, $81K is not a substantial amount of money. You can’t just live anywhere.”
In response, 50 Cent posted a clip from the crime drama series, Power, on Instagram.
The rapper, who is also an executive producer on the show, played the character Kanan Stark. The scene he shared featured Kanan and his son, Shawn, with Kanan dismissing Shawn for failing him again.
Many interpreted the clip as a subtle response to Marquise’s post.
In the scene, despite Shawn’s efforts to earn his father’s approval, he ultimately realizes his father had used him to settle personal scores, leading to a tragic outcome.
On various occasions, 50 Cent has spoken about his relationship with Marquise.
During an Instagram Live session in 2020, the rapper candidly reflected: “I didn’t think that success would cost me my first-born, but it’s the situation it is.”
He added: “My grandfather used to say, ‘If it rattles like a snake and slithers like a snake, is it a snake, or do you need to be bit?’ What he keeps saying is, every time you see the boy he show up with somebody you got a problem with. What does that tell you?”
In another post, Marquise alleged that his father had blocked him on social media.
He shared images of them together, expressing his desire to reconnect: “Now y’all all see I tried to reach out to talk to my pops as a MAN in front of the [world] & behind the scenes. I have no phone number for you & You’ve had me blocked on social media for years so I can’t DM you personally & everybody that is mutual is scared to touch the topic bc they’re scared of you.”
Marquise emphasized in his lengthy post that he wasn’t seeking money from 50 Cent; instead, he simply wished to have a conversation with his father.
