A Reddit user, claiming to be a private chef for a “billionaire,” shared an unusual request they received while working for the affluent family.
If you had the chance to ask for any dish at any time, what would it be?
Personally, I’d go for a lavish, multi-layered chocolate cake drizzled with fudge sauce and served with ice cream. It might be time-intensive, but not exactly odd.
After spending three years with a particularly wealthy family, Reddit user ‘Sea-Command-3786’ divulged the peculiar nature of some requests – and one stands out as particularly unusual.
The chef shared their experiences in an ‘Ask Me Anything’ Reddit session on Sunday (October 27), where he mentioned working under a non-disclosure agreement but could still share certain details.
He described the family as ‘quite healthy people’ who adhere to a ‘set eating schedule’, so he’s not typically asked to whip up nachos at 2am.
Discussing the meals he prepares, the chef noted there’s one dish he makes in abundance, and it’s a staple of a healthy diet.
He stated: “I prepare grilled chicken breast a ridiculous amount. I don’t hate it but it’s definitely not my favorite thing to cook.”
While he enjoys ‘studying [and] preparing’ Thai dishes, his job requires him to make whatever the employers desire, even if it’s grilled chicken breast.
And if they request something for a pet? He’ll cater to that as well.
Indeed, you read correctly.
When asked by a Reddit user to identify the ‘weirdest request’ he’s received, the chef replied: “Weirdest request was probably preparing a steak tartare for a guests [sic] dog.”
For those unfamiliar with steak tartare, it’s a dish made from raw ground beef.
According to Wikipedia, it’s typically served with ingredients like onions, capers, parsley or chive, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and other seasonings, which are usually provided separately for seasoning preferences. However, a dog likely wouldn’t manage that task.
Additionally, it’s often garnished with a raw egg yolk.
While it sounds like a gourmet meal for a pet, I doubt many would envy a dog eating it. But having a private chef cater to them? That’s a different story.
Oh, the life of the affluent…
