Netflix viewers are left breathless by ‘nightmare’ thriller featuring a tense 20-minute scene

A recent Netflix release has left viewers feeling so tense that many confessed they were ‘unable to breathe’ during the screening.

Fans claim that a particular scene was the ‘most nerve-wracking and prolonged 20 minutes’ they’ve ever experienced.

This intense thriller, which premiered last week, has quickly climbed to the top of Netflix’s movie charts globally, proving to be a highly intense viewing experience.

Kelsey Asbille, known from Yellowstone, portrays Iris, a woman on the brink of suicide who is suddenly injected with a ‘paralytic agent’ by a serial killer. He coldly informs her that she has 20 minutes before she is fully immobilized.

During this time, her bodily functions begin to fail.

Apart from the threat of the serial killer, Iris must also endure ants crawling on her face while she remains motionless and attempts to seek help, with only her eyes being able to move.

Just reading about it is enough to get the heart racing.

Viewers have been praising Don’t Move, with one user on the Netflix Bangers Facebook group sharing, “I have never seen a film like this before. I couldn’t breathe when watching it.”

Another viewer echoed the sentiment: “Kept me on the edge of my seat, loved it,” while another described it as “Unsettling but a good watch”.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, a user commented: “I watched that new Netflix movie called #DontMove where the lady was drugged and paralyzed…that was the most anxious and longest 20 min I ever seen.”

Another viewer said it ‘had them on edge’, and a third described the film as a ‘nightmare’.

One more viewer found the plot ‘extremely disturbing’, writing: “This woman is literally about to unalive herself and the guy who talks her out of it just drugged her to where she can’t move as she’s getting into her car.. the f**k?!”

However, not all feedback was positive, with some viewers expressing disappointment over the film’s conclusion.

One critic harshly stated: “Tried to watch Don’t Move, 15 minutes and I was done and that was being generous.”

Another viewer critiqued: “Story is good but… I feel they could’ve made it better, ‘specially the ending, is very boring in my opinion,” while another agreed: “Good story just an abrupt ending.”

So, what do Rotten Tomatoes critics say? The film received a decent score of 73 percent from critics, whereas the audience on RT rated it a mere 43 percent.

John Serba from Decider describes Don’t Move as ‘a reasonably tight and effective thriller, and a rock-solid debut from Netto and Schindler.’

Benjamin Lee from The Guardian notes that the thriller ‘doesn’t quite stick the landing as smoothly as one might hope with a few too many incredulous moments and some biffed one-liners.’

However, he mentions: “There are enough heart-in-throat moments on the way there to separate this from most of the genre guff.”

Don’t Move is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
