Hugh Grant has finally shared the names of his two youngest daughters and recounted the unusual story behind them.
Parenthood can be a challenging experience, and it’s no different for celebrities. The process of naming their children can be particularly daunting.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s show on October 29, actor Hugh Grant offered a glimpse into his fatherhood journey.
He confessed that he felt some anxiety when it came to naming his two youngest daughters.
Most significantly, he revealed their names and discussed why they are somewhat unconventional.
Before diving into that, he mentioned his own unusual middle name, Mungo. Yes, his full name is Hugh Mungo Grant.
Kimmel couldn’t overlook this and asked the actor for an explanation.
Grant responded: “It’s actually Hugh John Mungo. I don’t know how it happened. I had very unkind parents.”
When discussing his daughter’s middle name, he disclosed the name of his 8-year-old daughter.
“Worse. I have a daughter who I named…I was in a bit of a panic with my wife on the day we named her and we thought it might be nice for her when she was older if she could say in bars that her middle name was Danger.
“So her name is Lulu Danger Grant.”
This is quite a creative decision, as it’s undeniably impressive to be able to claim, ‘danger is my middle name’ with a straight face.
Later in the interview, Grant talked about Halloween and how both of his daughters are big fans of the holiday.
“My children love it. They love it. Actually, Lulu Danger Grant and her sister Blue Grant, named Blue because again I panicked about names with my wife so we asked [Lulu’s] elder brother when she was on the way.
“We said, ‘There’s a new baby coming along, what should we call her?’ And he said, ‘Kevin,’ because that was his favorite Minion.”
This refers to the minions from the Despicable Me series, not a group of minions residing at the Grant household.
He continued: “And we did think about calling her Kevin but then we said, ‘You better think of something else.’ So he said Blue, because it was his favorite color.”
Besides Lulu and Blue, Grant is also a father to John Mungo, 12, daughter Tabitha Xiao Xi, 13, and son Felix Chang Hong, 11.
